The ABC Family Support Fund was created to honor Alyssa Beth Cabes, beloved daughter and sister. We provide monetary support and resources for families of children with disabilities to help with costs not covered by Medicaid or private insurance.
Our Mission
The mission of the ABC Family Support Foundation is to provide monetary support and resources for families with children with disabilities and/or children hospitalized with long term or critical health issues.
Through the support of donors, we hope to cover unmet medical expenses of these families, including, but not limited to, medical equipment, therapies, and assistive devices not covered by Medicaid or private insurance.
Additionally, we strive to provide support for families with children hospitalized for serious health issues in a multitude of other ways.
What We Do

Provide financial assistance to families of children with disabilities to cover expenses for equipment, medical therapies, assistive devices, and home/car modifications that are not covered by private insurance or Medicaid.

Gift Card program delivered to families with children hospitalized at Children’s Hospital New Orleans rehab unit, ICUs, Cancer ward – 2X/year - On Alyssa’s birthday (May 8th) and around Christmas
Alyssa's Story
Alyssa Cabes was born on May 8, 1994. In May of 1997, Alyssa was in a near-drowning accident and sustained severe brain damage. She was confined to a wheelchair and had a permanent feeding tube and tracheostomy. Alyssa was cared for at her home for the next 25 years of life and passed away peacefully on May 7th, 2022, surrounded by her family.
